1. How does a tree grow?

Trees are living, breathing organisms that rely on photosynthesis to convert sunlight, carbon dioxide and water into wood cells and leaves. As such, trees grow both through expanding roots and stems as well as thickening tissues called meristems.

Every tree begins as a seed that has been dispersed by wind and animals until they can find an ideal combination of warmth, moisture, and soil for them to germinate in. Once this combination of conditions exists they’ll send out their first stem up while their roots spread down forming what we know today as seedlings.

Seedlings must compete for resources like soil nutrients, water and sunlight in order to survive. Cells which produce diameter growth (length and thickness) for trees reside in a layer beneath the bark called cambium tissue which also produces phloem to transport nutrients as well as new bark tissue growth. Tips and side buds of branches or twigs may expand lengthwise too.

2. What is a tree?

Trees play an integral role in Earth’s ecosystem, acting as an agent to store carbon, move water and produce oxygen. Our forests rely heavily on them as the backbone. Trees also provide shelter and food sources for animals living nearby and may live for hundreds of years or longer!

Trees are perennial woody plants with long trunks (trunks) and branches that support leaves, flowers and fruit. A tree differs from shrubs and woody vines in that it can reach great heights at maturity.

Data structures define trees as unsorted binary trees with at most two child nodes per parent node, also referred to as grandchildren or descendants. Nodes without children are known as leaf nodes or terminal nodes; those without depth zero are typically drawn on the left side of a rooted tree while its root node has depth one.

3. What is a flower?

Flower, also referred to as bloom or blossom, is the characteristic reproductive structure found on Angiospermae plants (flowering plants that belong to this division of plants). Flowers attract pollinators and facilitate plant reproduction by combining male and female gametes together into seeds that produce new seeds.

Flowers contain two parts that protect them: an outer protective envelope called the calyx that contains sepals and an inner part called the corolla that includes petals. Flowers may have either an radially or bilateral symmetrical design or have irregular contours depending on their design.

Flower male parts consist of stamens bearing pollen and a pistil with one or more ovules, located within an ovary at the base. A stigma at the top of each pistil receives pollen from anther tubes for fertilization to take place and produce fruits. Flowers represent an essential evolutionary advance because they allow plants to reproduce without dispersing spores into the air, and fruit production takes place more quickly as a result.

4. What is a plant?

Plants cover an expansive spectrum of living things, from feed crops growing next door to majestic kauri trees that dominate forest floors. All are members of kingdom Plantae; most utilize photosynthesis by utilising chloroplasts created through endosymbiosis with cyanobacteria; this allows solar energy to convert carbon dioxide and water into sugar through photosynthesis using chlorophyll, producing sugar from light energy through chlorophyll-enhanced photosynthesis for sugar production.
