The Music
Music’s definition remains one of the central philosophical preoccupations. Some scholars view music as an extension of language, essential for human life as speech; others, however, see it more purely aesthetic or ritualistic events (ceremonies or religious services), drama or dance performances or accompaniment of another artform such as drama or dance as companion pieces. Yet its fluid nature suggests there may be more fundamental and elusive criteria that define its nature than just its external dimensions.
The People
Populists claim they speak for “the people,” yet what exactly does this mean? Professor Morris Forkosch of Case Western Reserve Law Review in 1968 conducted a thorough analysis on this issue and concluded that in accordance with the Preamble of the Constitution “the people” encompasses women, servants and African-Americans as well as all who come within various constitutional amendments – but there may still be temptations among some groups to limit the “people” only to blood lines claiming racial purity, leading to suffering throughout history.
