Indoor bikes provide an easy and accessible cardio exercise option when the elements don’t permit outdoor cycling. Furthermore, they come with many additional benefits over traditional cycling that cannot be enjoyed when exercising indoors.
GGR lead reviewer and CPT Lindsay Scheele conducted extensive tests on several indoor exercise bikes to determine which models would provide maximum convenience to those looking to keep fit at home. She evaluated features such as incline/decline training, live programming and more when making her selections.
1. Bowflex VeloCore Bike
VeloCore bikes are an impressive contender in the smart indoor exercise bike arena. Their unique Lean Mode feature allows users to tilt from side-to-side during their rides for added muscle engagement during rides; not only that, but it can help target areas like core strength that traditional stationary bikes don’t touch upon as effectively.
This bike’s 22-inch HD touchscreen can integrate seamlessly with the JRNY app for studio classes and Explore the World scenic rides, while providing connectivity options with Peloton and Zwift. In addition, its built-in speakers and media rack allow for streaming your entertainment directly onto its console.
VeloCore bicycles feature an introductory offer with JRNY membership for one year, after which monthly subscription fees of either PS13 or PS16 apply. Furthermore, their frame warranty lasts two years while parts and labor warranties span one to two years (which is shorter than industry norm).
2. Schwinn Upright 130
The Schwinn Upright 130 is an excellent basic bike option without breaking the bank. Featuring a durable frame and high-inertia flywheel, this model provides excellent control and performance.
It offers 16 magnetic resistance levels and 13 built-in workout programs, plus Bluetooth connectivity so you can add virtual components such as Explore the World or Zwift (subscription required) for an enhanced riding experience.
The 5.5-inch LCD display provides data points such as time, RPM, distance, calories burned, speed and heart rate – as well as two users saving their profiles.
3. Yosuda Indoor Cycling Bike
Yosuda Indoor Cycling Bike features an upright design resembling that of gym spin bikes for an affordable home experience similar to what can be found in gyms. With infinite resistance levels available via its belt-driven 35lb flywheel, users of all fitness levels and workout intensities will have no difficulty adapting. Furthermore, its seat and handlebar height adjustments accommodate users of varying heights.
LCD screens display essential metrics, including time, speed, calories burned and odometer readings. A built-in tablet holder makes streaming follow-along video sessions more immersive and enjoyable during rides.
Assembly is straightforward with the included instructions and tools; our experience was straightforward, taking approximately 30 minutes. Due to its light weight and transport wheels on its front stabilizer, it allows users to easily transport this machine from room to room.
4. Renpho AI Smart Bike
The Renpho AI Smart Bike is an affordable option that works seamlessly with most popular training apps – including Zwift for immersive virtual riding experience.
This bike offers plenty of no-subscription-needed content such as workout classes and scenic rides, plus its companion app doesn’t look bad either!
This smart bike connects via FTMS Bluetooth, enabling you to seamlessly watch videos and other third-party workouts using devices such as tablets placed into its handy holder between handlebars. It is extremely sturdy, never rocking or wobbling even during power classes with high intensities – however, more expensive models often feature larger flywheels.
5. Peloton Bike+
The Peloton Bike+ boasts some great upgrades over its predecessor model, including an upgraded rotating screen and built-in audio. Furthermore, its sleek and minimal aesthetic make it more appealing for people seeking workout bikes that won’t take up too much room in their living room.
This app boasts an expansive library of classes and programmes, such as seated cycling, yoga, boxing, Pilates, running bootcamp and more. Furthermore, milestone achievements, streaks and badges allow you to track fitness progress.
As with the original model, this version comes fully assembled to your door with warranty coverage and an All-Access membership (at PS39 per month). Plus it features transport wheels for effortless moving around your home or apartment.
