4. Getting Started with a Group
Once you’ve assembled a group of individuals who will assist with planning for your community group, meet together and brainstorm ideas. This can be accomplished via google Doc or whiteboard; just keep the number within your group small to ensure strong energy and smooth communication.
At this stage, it’s important to gauge commitment. Explain that you’re seeking people willing to help create the group: writing structure documents such as mission, principles and norms documents. Make clear that anyone may join later but their participation cannot begin until all the structure documents have been created and signed off upon.
Take this time to pray and seek God for guidance, remembering that it may change as you gain more knowledge about each other and the community, yet always come back to your mission and vision as a basis of building.
