1. Educate yourself
Even if you feel you know everything there is to know about the industry you work in, that does not mean learning should stop. New products and innovations are constantly being created in our world – the best way to stay current on these changes is through reading and education.
Reading can help broaden your horizons in many different genres, and some great websites like Maria Popova’s The Marginalian are excellent sources of interesting info on many subjects.
Start a challenging project! A crowd-funded campaign is an excellent way to push yourself out of your comfort zone and increase knowledge.
3. Ask for help
Help-seeking can often be seen as something negative – like taking handouts – which makes asking for help harder. Yet these perceptions can often be inaccurate; being vulnerable and asking for assistance can often bring great rewards on both ends.
Consider who has the skills, ability or knowledge you require. Consider who has earned your trust. If their response may offend them, perhaps another person could provide assistance more easily.
Depending on your relationships or stress levels, seeking assistance might not be worth your while. But if the short-term discomfort outweighs potential long-term benefits then go for it!
